Our gilt restoration team specialise in the conservation and restoration of frames, ceilings, architectural features, furniture and sculptures.We specialise in water and oil gilding.
WATER GILDING
Water gilding is a traditional method for achieving a polished surface. It involves applying several coats of gesso and bole to create a suitable base. This allows us to burnish the gold using agate sticks.
OIL GILDING
Oil gilding can be used inside or outside to highlight architectural details or create a feature wall or ceiling. It is ideal for metal objects, or those that will be in a damp environment.
GILDING CONSERVATION
Gold leaf and gilded areas on furniture or wooden objects can fade and become damaged over time, however, our team can resolve any issues.
